“We are Europe!” - manifesto initiated by Beck and Cohn-Bendit

“We are Europe!”

Europe ought to be rebuilt from the bottom up – this is the demand of the social scientist Ulrich Beck and the Member of European Parliament Daniel Cohn-Bendit. In the manifesto they suggest to establish a “European year of volunteering for everyone” as a response to the debt crisis.

Europe needs committed Europeans. According to them, Europe relies on the European civil society and especially on the vision of younger generations in order to solve the debt crisis.

„Wir sind Europa!“

Europa soll von unten neu gegründet werden – das fordern der Soziologe Ulrich Beck und der EU-Abgeordnete Daniel Cohn-Bendit. Im Manifest „Wir sind Europa“ schlagen sie ein „Freiwilliges Europäisches Jahr für alle“ als Antwort auf die Schuldenkrise vor.

Europa könne nicht ohne engagierte Europäer funktionieren. Um die Schuldenkrise zu lösen, bräuchte Europa die europäische Bürgergesellschaft und vor allem die Vision der jüngeren Generationen, sagen sie.

« L’Europe, c’est nous ! »

Il faut créer une nouvelle Europe par le bas – c’est ce que demandent le sociologue Ulrich Beck et l’homme politique Daniel Cohn-Bendit. Dans le manifeste « L’Europe, c’est nous ! » ils proposent une « Année européenne de volontariat pour tous » pour réagir à la crise de l’euro.

L’Europe ne peut pas fonctionner sans Européens engagés. Pour résoudre la crise de l’euro, l’Europe a besoin d’une société civile européenne et notamment de la vision des générations plus jeunes, disent Ulrich Beck et Cohn-Bendit.
